A Breath in the Moment: A Journey to Presence

When I woke up, I woke up with just a soft sigh,
And I felt myself there, in the moment, just for a second.
That’s really the only place I can be.
So I took another breath and was there again in the moment.

I showered and was there, in the moment, just with my breath.
I went out for a walk with my dog,
He and I, both together, just with our breath.
We were there, together, in the moment.

We passed by the river, and as if by magic,
I realized I was also there,
With just the breath and the moment, if only for a second.

All in all, I have two choices in life:
To be there in the moment, soaking in all the magic,
Or to be somewhere else, outside the present,
As if living in a dream, as if nothing is real.

It’s true—when I’m not in the moment, I’m in a dream state.
Without focusing on each breath,
I’m not here, I’m not alive.
I’m searching for what always exists.

As I realize this,
There’s no excuse, no reason not to try,
Not to do the work.

To not be here in the moment, with the breath.
The only thing that is real, the only moment that is real.
I swear I’ll try with all my body, with all my soul.
To grow for others, to create a better world for all.

With all my love and with all my heart,
I am here, breathing, being nothing more than what I am.
A divine spirit, walking the earth in this suit of skin and bones,
Waiting for the return to my natural state,
The state that never ends,
With the gods and the angels, with total absorption,
In and as part of the magic that has existed for all who can feel it.
